first experience

I thought I would share with you my first experience going after the coveted redfish here in SC. I read the posts about wadeable flats and scouted out copahee sound a couple of weeks ago. Being the kind of person that is willing to learn by trial and error I checked the tide table, took a guess, bought some clouser minnows, and set out on yesterday to catch me a fish. I arrived at the sound about two hours before low tide. I thought I might be able to find some reds up in the creeks. Water level was very low, the creek I expected to be about waist deep barely made it over my wading shoes. But I set out trudging across the mud to make my way to the oyster flats. about 50 yards into my trek I found myself about thigh deep in that fabulous stuff they call plough mud. Having experienced this stuff during duck season I did not panic but began the procedure of extracting myself. Once free of the beast I stood and looked out towards my destination as I cought my breath. It was then that I made the decision that I really had no buisness being out here without more information and I turned around and went back to my car so that I would be able to fight another day.
And so to the real point to this post. If you found this entertaining at least and feel any amount of pity for this Idaho boy transplanted to SC for a short amount of time then I ask you to share with me the secret to success at wading copahee sound. Feel free to email me if you do not wish to post these secrets. Thank you in advance for any help you give.
