I was debating on whether or not to fish the Cooper and with the recommendation from the charleston angler guys, “stick with what you know.” I decided to fish the Wando. Paddled for about 2 minutes just to get some distance from the landing and decided to cast really quick. As soon as i cast out i had a nice 21 inch red on the line, after that i knew i wasn’t going to catch anything the rest of the day, and my assumption was correct, I did spook about 6 fish and found a new flat that was big and decently hidden so i am excited to try it out. I didn’t release the red because my wife has certain expectations of me, plus i think she’s starting to think I’m full of it when i say i release them. Red was caught on a chatterbait Zman paddlez smokey shad

Nice fish, and my wife is the same way! Although these days she wants to be the one catching dinner. Dont want to hijack the thread but have a quick question. Are you required to wear a lifejacket while kayaking? Dont want to debate whether or not you should wear one, just whether or not you are supposed to. Thanks and congrats again.

I just have it in a storage compartment on the kayak, granted i should probably wear it but i am a strong swimmer, but idk i bought a cheap 10 dollar life jacket and don’t feel like wearing it but i usually stick to really shallow water so im not to concerned. I am currently trying to get my wife interested in fishing…
Thanks for the help. Someone told me you were required to wear them and that they were writing tickets. Looked all over and could not find the answer! Good luck getting the wife to go fishing. Best thing that ever happened to me. I fish 10 times more now than i used too, since she likes to go. Only downside is she gets a little upset when i go without her. Especially if i catch a lot of fish!
