First fish otf! (pics)

Purchased an 8wt and some flys at the charleston angler couple days ago. Went down to a near by pond every day since working on my cast and trying to catch some fish… first couple days didnt get anything prolly cause my cast sucked… watched some videos on how to cast better and went out today and saw a big bass crusing through the water and threw a dragonfly fly at him and thank the lord he started following it… when he took it it took me a couple seconds to set the hook cause i didnt want to pull it out of his mouth lol… but anyways it was awesome… cant wait to get a red!

“Fishing is alot like sex…when its good,it’s really good, and when its bad, its still pretty good.”

nice lunker

Nice fish next thing you know you will be spending all your money on fur and feathers and reels…lines…boxes…waders…well you’ll see! Nice fish

If it swims throw a fly at it!

You bought a 8wt set-up. That is (in my opinion) the perfect first rod for this area. I can’t really remember what was my first saltwater fish caught but, what I do remember is many many hours of practice and hunting for every fishing opportunity I could find. Most of my first couple years saltwater fish were caught from shore.

If you send me a PM (Personal Message) with your address, I would be happy to stick a couple/few of my favorite saltwater flies in an envelope to you to help you along in your efforts.

Great first fish!

And, when I did a lot of fresh water pond fishing, we had a saying, “Use any color, as long as it is Yellow”! Pond fish love the color yellow.
