First offshore trip in the new boat

We left Remley’s at 5 and reached the Y-73 at 7. Rode through the broken weed lines everyone has been talking about from around 50 ft of water all the way out to the ledge. First time I had ever been to the ledge but didn’t get anything trolling. We bottom fished the Y-73 reef and caught more than our limit on vermillion. Various species of grunts and sea bass came on board as well as Barracuda and eel. We also caught a few triggers. Hooked into what I believe was a very healthy shark due to the steady pull and occasional head shake. Finally broke my line after 25 minutes of getting spooled with one last head thrash. Didn’t see any right whales that are active right now but did manage to see a huge sea turtle coming up several times to have a look around. Seas were about 3 feet all morning and glassed over around 2:30. Beautiful ocean until the winds picked back up and kicked up the 4-5 footers that were predicted. The boat got a good test yesterday and we had a blast. I can’t wait till the fish cover the reefs this cold season for spawning. Won’t have to go out as far to catch the keepers.

He’s back!

Yes sir I am back. I really missed being out there on the water and catching the ocean sunrise and sunset. Hopefully I have many more successful trips.

You’ll know immediately after going over it. The first indication will be the rapid acceleration. The sudden stop may be a problem though.
