First on the Fly (11/26 w/ pics)

Its my youngest’s birthday today, and he wanted to go fishing (isn’t that awesome? I am lucky :stuck_out_tongue:). Peeled the frosty cover off the boat and got ready. Hit the water at the crack of 10-something AM. Only had a couple hours so as to get back to the ranch for b-day festivities and getting ready to host T-day guests. Weather was great, yet a little nippy while “waking”. Tried a few spots up Yellowhouse with no action. We were looking for schools of trout so we spent no more than 5-10 mins at a spot if no action. Went to a new (to me) spot that has held a school of trout in the past couple weeks. Immediately picked one up on a trout trick. Circled around and dropped anchor. Picked up three more, then got out the fly rod. Result: First cast - first fish OTF for me, a nice little 13"er trout! Very rewarding  I’d like to thank the Academy, and Jerms for his tips and encouragement!!! Time was wasting so we headed to try for some sheepys. Got to the spot and the current was ripping still, so we tried for a few minutes before realizing it was futile, w/o rigging a lot more weight anyway. Oh well, we’ll try again another day. Last stop at the honey hole on the way back, gin clear water - you could see everything. Casted a trout trick along the structure and picked up a nice little 2 spot red (15"). A great little short trip.

Here’s the pics:
