First red drum

My father always told me fishing is something people do when they’re bored but being a fishermen is a way of life. I also remember hearing him say numerous times the old saying….give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day……teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.

I’ve been lucky enough to fish all over the world. I’ve taught more people to fish than I can remember. I’ve seen more first fish caught than I can count. Last week was yet another one of those moments for my girlfriend RHI with her first Red. Tomorrow will be the first time for her and my 8 year old daughter to go off shore for some big fish fun.

I’ve been a fishermen for over 40 years and I still remember the first offshore fishing trip I ever took with my dad and my uncle like it was yesterday. I was 8 just as my daughter is. The photo of the 36lb king mackerel and the 30lb amberjack I caught still hangs on my wall today.

Tomorrow will be the day my little girls go from fishing to being fishermen. I’ll update everyone tomorrow on the new additions to this life and passion.

Post your first fish stories so we can all share how this happens.

Awesome stuff Silver
Looking forward to your update

My first first fish was a copper head bream caught at the VFW post on lake Moultrie
They called it the duck pond area before the public ramp was built
One day I’ll catch a 30 lb amberjack
It’s on my bucket list

Well, we had a full day of firsts. It was my girlfriend‘s first day offshore and my daughter‘s first offshore trip as well. Everyone caught fish. My eight-year-old daughter caught her first mahi and her first snapper (released). My girlfriend caught her first mahi and White grunt. We got our hands on some nice strawberry grouper. All in all it was a great trip.

I don’t remember my first fish, or my first dog.
Seems like they’ve both always been a big part of “things”

nice haul, pretty smiles. That’s always a good day
