First Red on a Kayak 7/23/2013 IOP

My brother left his new Ascend Kayak down at the beach house this week so I just had to shove it off the dock and see what was lurking behind all those pilings I couldn’t reach by land. What do you know, this beautiful 27" red came charging out right away. Man she was strong, but I had the drag tight and the braid freshly spooled so she wasn’t going anywhere. She tired out pretty quick trying to pull the yak through the water. I will say it was quite an adventure trying not to fall out the yak, her spinning me around and trying to fight the fish all at once. Man I am hooked now, so much more relaxing fishing from a kayak.
