…And no it was not a redfish or any type of trophy fish. Took a box of chum and the 12wt (decided on the 12wt over the 8wt because I didnt know what to expect) with my family on a trip off to the edisto 60. My plan was to chum up some sharks while the family bottom fished. got a pretty good slick going, but only one problem: no sharks. Did not see one the entire day. The family wasnt having much luck with the BSB but they were still having fun. Finally I see these two fish that looked to be small cobias circling about 20 yards behind the boat. Decided to give them a shot. after 3 cast, fish on! Shook the hook. Cast to the 2nd one and and hooked up with him. Wasnt much fun on the 12wt but he put a decent fight on. Got him aboard and what we thought were cobias ended up being a Remora. Still a unique catch and very rare for a first in saltwater. It was still awesome. Ill post a picture later.
