First Skunked trip "Reelly Blessed" 04/13/2012

Well, now in 5 seasons of trying this sport out and learning about it, me and Kut08 finally had our first no show of the fish going past the rocks.

We ran right to the Edisto Banks, only found 70 - 71 degree water. There were weeds and a bunch of other boats, but no life.

We pulled up the gear, ran to a point a few miles west of the 226, found rips, weeds, fliers, and warm water 72 - 73 degrees. Put out lines, trolled around and had nothing. We even saw Mahi jumping in the weed lines chasing bait, but couldn’t get a single one of them to come into the spread.

We ran home with our tails between our legs to a nice ride home doing 25 knots the whole way.

No hot color, no hot bait, nothing, nothing, nothing.

Thanks for posting the not so good report with all the others you’ve shared. At least the sun still sizzled for you on the way out. That makes it worth the trip every time for me!

G2G, I feel so blessed just to have the opportunity to get out on the ocean and fish. And yesterday was a nice day on the water. You are so right.

I will say this, in my uneducated opinion from what I saw, they just aren’t here yet. I think everyone talking about how warm the water was getting so quickly got me all excited. I bet in a few more weeks it’ll be much better. Given that between the beach and 120 feet, the water is still mid to upper 60’s. Just my guess of course.

They are here on the temp breaks. It should only get better from here.

From what I saw on wednesday there are some decent dolphin starting to show up… just hope the tuna and wahoo stick around to welcome the rest of the Dolphin. We found 72 degrees inshore of the 226 hole
