I just put 20 lb. braid and a 5 ft mono leader on one of my spinning reels. Never used braid on a spinning reel before so this is where the test came in. First cast and tap, no thump! then here she goes like a freight train for the middle of the river. 25, 50 75 yards later pulled the anchor and chased her down. Got to see the leader knot and then… the hook let go.[:0] Love the light braid. Casts a country mile and has no memory and came off the reel very smooth. Learned my knot tying skills are getting better which was my worry.
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
Just remember that with braid on spinning reels sometimes you may get wind knots or other tangles. Usually, they look worse than they really are and can easily be undone. if the tangles/knots get really tight you can forget it though. I am sure yo will love it.

Maybe “easily undone” should have read: carefully undone.Dont get me wrong they can be a real pain and expensive. But, I have found that if you dont pull hard and look closely, many times it is just wrapped and twisted and not actually a knot. My buddy got one on my guest rod yesterday and he was upset because it looked real bad and he thought he had messed up the rig for the day. I took about two mins, assessed the situation and unwrapped it and and he was back to fishing. Many times i have cut line off and had to respool. So, i began getting them undone to save money. Now, sometimes it is impossible but I have undone some that looked pretty darn bad.

I have spare spools and take line that has been uses say 6 months and put it on the spare spool. Then use the line another 6 months. The only change in performance is a slight change of color of the line.I have a pick on board that i use to open tangles, takes a few minutes.
