First time fly fishing

My roomate finally convinced me to try fly fishing, and I have to admit it was AWESOME. We ended up with around 15 bass and a few brim. The biggest bass was around 2lbs. It wasnt as hard it would be to cast, grant it I was only casting 15 to 20 feet. If you havent tried fly fishing it is very very addictive and if you get the chance to try do it!!

Congrats on the fish. You have now steped on a slippery slop:smiley: and will soon be out on the water with the long rod again. Bream and bass can be alot of fun. I plan on grabbing the 4wt and busting some bream this weekend. Pics to follow.

Nope, those are bubbles from the pond’s timed aerator. Those fish live strickly on bugs and smaller fish, which is what makes fly fishing it so much fun.

Nice job, Chad. Can’t wait to get my first fish OTF.

If you want to catch your first fish OTF, I plan on doing some dock light fishing at some point in the next 2 weeks. You are more than welcome to come and as long as you can cast in the dark, I can promise you some trout, they just may be on the small side. If you are interested, shoot me an email.

Stretch, if you still have my cell give me a buzz or shoot me an email with your number. I have to be in court everyday this week, so some trips may be impromptu and calling may give you more of an advance than a last minute email. Let me know what nights you are free and we will try and shoot for one that works for both of us.

boondoggle, actually it is a balsa wood popper that looks kind of like a spider. I think Betts makes them.

Looks like you’ve got your money’s worth out of that popper. There ain’t much paint left on it.

Add one of these as a dropper under your popper for more fun

Jedi, I don’t fish from a dock, rather I fish from my boat around docks with lights. I have a VERY small boat that really can only fly fish two comfortably. I really enjoy fishing dock lights and will shoot you an email when I am going.

Cool beans man… let me know when and I’ll get the night vision warmed up

Guys, I have not forgotten about you. Work has been crazy and I typically only hit the dock lights on week nights. I will be in touch as soon as I get out of my cage.
