first time for stripers

This will be my first time striper fishing by myself. I went one time before with a guide and had a blast. Planning on fishing near the dam friday night. If anyone could give some advise on were to get bait after 6 pm and any helpful hints on rigs and etc.I would greatley appreciate it. I am taking my daughter and would like her to catch a few. Thanks to anyone that can help.

Especially when he said he’s taking his daughter. Anyway, look below at a thread called “got a couple” by DillyDally. It is one of the clearest explanations for fishing “down rods”. I like a 1 oz egg sinker, but I guess that’s just opinion. Fish seem to be hitting anywhere from 30’ to 80’ down. I am not sure what time lake world closed, but I know I got bait there around 6:30. I went there once and they were sold out but that was Saturday night. Good luck, hope your daughter catches a bunch.

You can catch bait at the dam using a sabiki rig or just throw a cast net. Right now there is more bait at the dam then I have seen in a while especially after dark near the surface.

thanks for asking. Started fishing about 9:30. Had 4 people with me daughter,wife's son in law and nephew caught 22 keep 16. had a grear night fishing and a great fish fry. Thank everyone for your help
