Took the family out on the boat on the lake today. We put in at the Hatchery landing. Quite a beautiful lake. It fun doing a little exploring in a foriegn environment. I usually hit the saltwater. I did notice quite a few large mouth bass floating in the lake. They were sizable fish, and when I slowed down to inspect a couple of them, they seemed to have injuries. Is this common, or does anyone know what would cause injuries to so many bass (there were about two dozen or so sighted)? Anyway, looking forward to going out there again and maybe catching some of those brute bass.
Probably shad you’re seeing
Or stripers.

I frequent Moultrie all the time and have spent most of my summers on the lake since I can remember… You will see Stripers, perch, catfish, etc floating dead quite often. They die from numerous causes and not all die on Moultrie. Some are delivered from the upper lake via the Diversion canal. I doubt it is anything more that the circle of life, nothing to worry about. I have been eating fish from the lake for 30+ years and I am fine, I am fine…Um, what were we talking about and who are you people?.. LOL
