I had an absolute blast out on moultrie. We headed out with intentions on catching crappie. After way to long without a bite we decided to give trolling a try for stripers. Since I’ve never done it in fresh water on this lake let alone I was sceptical. I had a couple deep diving bass plug so we gave it a shot. First rod out got hit before I could get it in the rod holder. It was constant steady action for a couple hours. Lost count at 20. No keepers but on light action rods they were a blast. I’ll definitely be refining my technique and trying again soon. Any pointer on targeting larger stripers? Average 20-22" biggest 25".
Looks like y’all had a fun day! As for a pointer on possibly getting bigger fish, though I haven’t fished Moultrie since my youth, my strategy would be to find them and pull live herring or shad on dowrods, freelines, planers, and corks. You have to be properly equipped for that though, and that’s a thread unto itself. We’re talking bait well, rod holders, trolling motor, etc. There are numerous resources out there to get you started. However, what you’re doing now can also generate big bites.
Tight lines to you!

I’ve got all that equipment. I was thinking about just upsizing some of the baits.

Get big gizzard shad or some of the ocean run herring. Big bait=big fish. If you think it’s too big it’s probably just right.
