First trip of '11 Saturday

First trip of the year, First post on this site…

Blew the dust off the Cabledawg and left out of Little River around 5am Saturday. Fog was the hot topic of the morning looking at everyone’s posts. After what seemed like hours creeping through the intercoastal and the first 5 miles, the fog lifted and we put the hammer down. Hit 75 degree water in 120-150 ft and deployed the spread. Boated our first dolphin in about 3 min. managed another 4 or 5 dolphin before our long line got burned down which ended up being a nice Wahoo. Fish hit on green,blue,pink,blk/pink. picked up lines around 2pm and headed for our grouper spot, sorted through the sharks and the endangered BSB but struck out on the grouper. called it quits around 4:30 and headed for the hill, about 3 miles into our return we spotted a school of dolphin free jumping around some weeds/debree. pulled a u-turn and broke out the spinning rods. they chased what bait we had left but no luck. a decent sized Cobia showed up and taunted us for a while as well. we spent almost an hour playing with these fish with Zero luck…Sad I know! hit the waterway around 7:30 cleaned boat and fish till almost midnight.

Finished with 6 dolphin, 1 King, 1 Wahoo.

FOG!!
