First Trip of the Year bottom trip 5/3 (pics added

I have been trying for weeks to get offshore. Finally got a weekend to come to the lowcountry. Tried all week to get a ride for Sunday to catch some carolina gold. Decided I would run a bottom trip. Made the plans for Black Bart and myself to go on a hunt for some bottom meats. Pushed away from the dock at 5:30am and headed offshore. Some idiot almost ran into the side of us on the way through the harbor then got in behind me and had someone holding a spot light shinning it all around. We figured he has never been in the harbor in the dark. It was nice bright moon and I could see easily before they decided to run the spot light. Seas were nice, lines wet by 7:15 fished from 120ft to 80 feet, and back to the dock at 1:30pm Kept 2 man limit of beeliners. one AJ, one trigger and a nice cobia. Beeliners were thick could not get hooked on anything but them. Threw back more than we kept. Aj’s wore us out but fun on vertical jigs. Caught two small bsb in 80ft at our last stop. Kind of weird we did not catch any of those deeper. Black Bart has the pics. I broke my phone this weekend. I am waiting on my replacement.

Pioneer 197sf

Had a good time as usual, Cliff. The Pioneer 197 proves time and again that it handles like a much bigger boat. And a special hanks for puttin’ me on my first cobia! Already itchin’ to go again…

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
