First trip was a success!

Headed out to the intracoastal yesterday. Got out around 8 and threw the cast net. Landed7 mullet that were about 8 to 10 inches. Used a couple for cut bait. Fished some creeks and docks on the falling tide. Landed a small bsb and 3 whiting, which my wife demanded that I kept cause she likes them so much lol. Hooked into what looked like a 40 inch red. Fought it for about 10 minutes with my 13lbs of drag almost maxed out. It saw the net and did a 180 and snapped my 25lb fluorocarbon leader. Tied on 50 lb and casted out another live shrimp and landed a 28 incher that weighted about 8.4 lbs. Water temp started around 58 and reached 62 by noon. Good first day of the year!

looking like a terrorist with my red lol

Should have gotten a better measurement pic but I was in a rush to release him

whiting dinner caught on cut shrimp. All were about 8 to 10 inches.

Good for you, what a great first day out! Still waiting for my first day. A few more weeks of soccer and lacrosse and maybe I’ll be out there soon.
