“The Gap” is the area off the tip of Billy Dreher Island. I believe it is named so because that is the the section where the land points come together closest from both sides of the lake. Also, it is the spot where the rivers come together. This area is also used in reference to the upper lake and lower lake.
Thanks. You probably already know…in between long island and dreher (old road bed)…is not that bad of a spot

Jerms, just gettin something that I can fish more folks out of. the flats boat is fine for the wife and me, but found a heck of a deal on a 22’ bay boat and have a 150 merc lookin for a boat, so…
we’ll let our son use the flats boat and we’ll use the bay boat. doin the sea school thing in March to get my ticket so maybe one day soon I can pursue my passion and forget about data centers.
Come see us when you get home.
murray i guess you’re talking to me.we put in at shulls and went towards the gap.the whole area is holding fish.the black bass are on the bottom.we were actually loking for perch but they have moved since last week.we been getting them from 1-1.5 pounds.inknow i’m going to regret saying this but we have been geting our limit.i don’t take a whole lot of pictures.if you ant to see some picturesgo back and search for bad day on murray for stripers.thats me and my fishing partner.
that pic thing sort of “snowballed” lets forget about it.I saw were ya’ll slayed them cats.thanks for the info.I am coming down from Laurens and I think I will still put in at buffalo creek. We are fishing basically the same area anyway. This is only the start of my third year on murray(paddling for fish)and I have couple spots where I look(lowerance finder)(doubles the value of my 'yak)on the way towards the gap.Usually I’ll find them(can’t always catch them)before I get to the main lake.So If there are no fish in b.creek on sunday maybe I’ll run into you heading south.

murray just didn’t know if you saw the pictures thay’s all.the bouys right out from the marina has been holding some good fish.on you lowrance the arches on the bottom are not stumps theyare in active bass a jigging spoon will work wonderson them.i found this out last week.we thought it was stumps turned out to be bass.we are using the lowrance 110c. the darn thing wouldn’t beep when we would passover them.we drifted over them and caught one and watched come up on the screen.tried it again and a another one.you get the point.

buffalo creek marina.you can laung your boat, they have really good ham burgers and one of the fewplaces to gas o yhe water.get you a map and mark the spots when we start talking about them.i started doing this since i was 18.alot of the places are called by nicknames that fisherman give them.murray i know several places that you can use your yak.alot of creeks that i fish produce nice crappie and stripers.that’s when i start using my 12ft jon boat.
I ben fishing b.crk most every trip and know it fairly well(I’ve got two maps and a pen next to me)If you tell me your bottom depth(in front of marina is mostly 15’ +or-)It would help.I always put in at public launch north of marina and check spots heading south. Thanks for the tips

Well how did you do. I went to the river trout fishing instead of fixing my boat. Nothing but tiny rainbows. should have fixed boat instead.
steelytom,
Did you catch them in the Saluda?

Yeah I got a few small ones. Not like last year though, I could catch about ten. The river was very low and i think the trout were out farther than I could fish with the fly rod.
