went out last night and fished the last hour or so. hand size manhaden were all over the back of drum island! three tosses of the net had my livewell slammed. headed to the fishing hole and right at dark a huge school of glass minnows came through and the trout were everywhere. Managed a couple nice ones. Then time for giggin. Tide was already coming in and the wind didnt lay down (big surprise right?) so it was tough to find somewhere to see. Picked at them until the upper half of the tide when the water got clear. Was able to get my first ever triple tail though and ended up with a dozen flounder plus the trout so all in all it was a good evening
Those SOBs have armor like scales. Good on you for sticking a gig in one! Great eating.
nice!
good stickin bo
I’ve never seen one of those at night. So please forgive my ignorance, but is that a rah-tard fish, do they get lighter colored at night?

Now I know where all of my flounder have gone…in your boat! lol

Peapod… i saw another one that was regular color but he escaped me… i do believe it was just this specimen that was colored this way. oddly enough a flounder less that 50 yards away was very similar
How big was it?I’ve shot some with the bow. This is my biggest to date.Stuck it about 3 weeks ago. Very good eating fish.

Juvenile tripletail are usually yellow. They darken as they mature

Cool fish. I stuck a few last season. The way they swim along the bottom is pretty neat.
he was floatin on top oddly enough… cooked him up with the trigger burger recipe on here and it was mighty fine
I caught 3 last week in the Keys on small pieces of Dolphin bloodline under huge matts of floating sargassum. They were yellow and about 10 inches long. Caught plenty of big triple tail before…but on live shrimp…never caught a juvenile triple tail before.
