first trolling trip in lil' Shake Your Buoy

That’s right, trolling in my 17 ft Scout.

Caught 12 dolphin, 3 tuna (one bonita, 2 blackfin), & 1 wahoo. Hooked a blue marlin, and line popped. Don’t get your reels spooled at West Marine!!! Frist time I used that reel, West Marine spooled it so loose, cost us a blue marlin & a $30 lurer…

At this point, all storage areas and coolers are packed with fish. Much to my amazement, right as I called it since I couldn’t find a place to stick this dolphin, BAMN!!! Two lines went off…

So easy to get fish into little boat, not so easy to keep them there…

The little boat that can…

Nice haul

Lord girl! Looks like someone performed an excorcism or something in your boat:smiley:.
Good job. Sounds like you’re on a roll these days.
How far out did you go to find the fish? (not specifics just approx. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a 17 past 35-40 miles.)

Just noticed a couple of red cans in one of the pics.

Good grief, what a haul. Nice catch!!

Oh boy… The discussion about going to the Flemmish Cap in a 17’ boat is going to be bad enough, but a man doing it with a pink shirt on, white neck scarf, and some red armed 80’s sunglasses and looking like the “cat’s meow”??? Well, that’s just asking for a 5 pager at the least…

^exactly what he said. congrats thats an awesome trip especially on a 17 footer. Were you using any kind of dredges on outriggers or just trolling? And how deep? Thanks and good job!

Nice catch…how far out? been debating on taking my 17’ out to try for some MAhi myself.

No outriggers, no downriggers, no planers - just a yankee, a mexican, and a female trolling 3 lines that didn’t tangle once. I actually added a fourth line towards the end, just for sport. We dropped lines at about 90 ft, trolled out to about 200 ft give or take, and then worked my way back to about 150, at which point we had to call it because if we kept another fish, someone was going to have to go overboard to keep boat afloat. I suppose I was about 50 miles offshore? No weed lines, just fished temp breaks and rips. Tuna & wahoo caught (blue hooked) when water temp was 76-78, dolphins 78-81. Direction? North.

Let’s just say that I found a way to fit that 5.5 ft fish into a nearly full 3’x2’x1.3’ ice box.
