This was my first full turkey season. Last year I was only able to go one day before surgery side lined me. This year was very different. After missing on double jakes at 10 yards and not seeing anything but hens for the next few hunts. With 3 days left in the season Troutaholic and I set up in a popup blind at a friend’s place with a hen and jake decoy for an evening hunt. We weren’t in the blind 10 minutes before a hen showed up and meandered off. About 45 minutes later I saw movement off to my left and 4 toms(I think)came out of the brush and headed straight for the jake decoy. Got one shot off and missed yet again, but on the next shot I downed my lovely first tom.
Congrats on your first turkey. At what distance are you shooting and missing?
Thank you. 10 yards or less. Been working on my shooting skills and my nerves lol
