Trolled 2-16 out of Bonneau. Caught one keeper rockfish and a 2lb largemouth. Alot of old eelgrass that was a pain, found clean water near Overton riprap. Got the two in 10-14’ water, tasted very good Sunday dunner with some catfish fillets and fixings. Deep running Rapalas redhead/chrome, didn’t fish long due to wind but happy to start the year!

Are you running planer boards or just off the gunnels and launchers?
Pulling off rod holders I built that holds the rods almost flat out each side and two long rods vertical each side in back. Works really good to keep from tangling lines with the deep running Rapalas. I do use the planer boards sometimes for catfish trolling and crappie fishing.

And really caught the fish trolling
I put the driftmaster pros on my jon boat with some half inch female blocks welded to the gunnels.
They have two settings or placements, one is flat like you are talking about and the other is 30 degree.
I’ve been liking those a lot for trolling and drifting shiners.
