Firsts all around

Fished 2.5 hours tonight 5:45 or 6:00-8:30pm. Didn’t catch anything until 6:20 and then it was hot and cold catching 5 fish by 6:45. It cooled off until I hit my favorite hump this summer and on the back side the FF lit up. 2 rods went off, first one comes up and it’s a 10# class fish and jumps off just behind the motors. This next one feels like we are reeling in a tree. To our surprise we have 4 fish on one Umbrella. First for me! Atleast 3 of the fish are 5-7#. I grab the line to pull over the gunnell and the 40# Andy snaps. Oh s.hit, 4 fish gone and an umbrella rig. Not too fast, they can’t figure out how to swim away together. After hustling and bustling backing down, turning etc etc I’m able to grab the U-rig and get 3 fish in the boat as one breaks free. Luckily he was done for and couldn’t get down further than 5’. We were finally able to grab him and sling him in. I don’t use my Striper net on the big boat and def not with U-rigs. Finished the night with a triple where the 8 and 10 year old were able to boat theirs where Dad tried the old Tuna method using the rod to sling the fish over when the line on the lure itself snapped. Total 13 fish going to the fryer and 2 swam away for me to catch them again.
