To give my fish boxes some added insulation I want to glue some of that house styrofoam to the bottom of the tops. Pure Silicone works great on everything, but I read somewhere that this is not a good way to make it stick to fiberglass gel coat .
Any suggestions ?

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Avoid silicone, it leaves residue behind that nothing will stick to.
Just thinking out loud…
Will epoxy melt foam board?
If not, I would bed the foam in epoxy and put a thin layer of fiberglass over the foam board.
Paint to match. Little more work up front but should last a lifetime.
Or, 3M 4200 the foam board to the lid and see how long it lasts. I’m guessing 1 season before the foam is so messed up it falls off or disintegrates into tiny purple balls of hell blowing all over and clogging drains.
