Fish Cops

Saw this truck on Dorchester Road yesterday. Said Federal Officer on the back and had some link to NOAA on the tailgate. First time seeing one for me.

Because that’s where our tax dollars need to go.

I go to Hawaii for a week and you already miss me? Just waiting for a fishing window!!! Already talked to 40inchreds about hopefully finding and opening next week. The new gear is rotting before it’s had a chance to get salty!

I see plenty of federal wardens by my house, especially during duck season. I have never seen one with a NOAA link. Perhaps an offshore crackdown is coming soon. Good eye brother!

I know the feds just recently rolled this out to increase awareness and visibility. It is a totally new effort. I believe we now have at least two NOAA uniformed enforcement officers in the state to supplement the undercover officers. They have made a number of cases in the last year e.g. landing under legal size blue marlin, failure to report a landed marlin as required by HMS recreational permit, landing oceanic whitetip sharks, etc. Personally glad they are here.

I’ve seen him at Remley’s a few times last year. He checked our catch. He was a gentleman.

There is a national Marine fisheries federal agent working the Charleston area now. I met him at Folly boat ramp, had no idea he was a federal agent. He told me he had been in my seafood store plenty of times and he was sad I closed it he will be enforcing federal fisheries laws offshore and on the hill.

He’s got a lot of ground to cover. If we can’t keep all this heroin from getting in, I can’t Imagine how they will enforce a red snapper being kept here and there. Like I said…a gigantic waste of money.

one fed and one DNR ran me down about 15 or 20 miles offshore about a month ago.dnr boarded while the fed stayedwith their boat. checked us and the fish. dnr was very nice. don’t know how they found me out there though.

I’m pretty sure they patrol the wrecks and popular live bottom areas on the regular. They can find you on radar pretty easily
