Why:question: Are you that hungry, or just enjoy killing things?

+1 on baby cuda

Hard to tell but with that pronounced lateral line I’m leaning toward a baby Kingfish.

CL you have thrown me a couple bones and I greatly appreciate that! But that “enjoy killing” comment wasnt cool. The reason I harvested the barracuda is for an asian friend that loves them. Any time I can do a good turn for someone i like to do it. I think the same is true for you. But no reason to say something like that

He didn’t say anything. He asked you a question. You answered it…good job.

Here we go again! Sniper, pissin people off[:0]

Since I have never known anyone who eats cuda, I thought Larry’s question and leadenwahboy’s response was most appropriate.

The bahamians love cuda! I’ve known quite a few people in the states that eat them. I never have guess I’ll stick with tradition. Just for the record you can get ciguatera poisoning from quite a few different fish,

Over 400 known fish species have been classified as potential ciguatoxin carriers. Examples of species associated with Florida cases include barracuda, grouper, amberjack, snapper, tuna, kingfish, eel, trevally, seabass, mackerel, hogfish, and mahi-mahi. Cooking fish does not kill the heat-stable toxin. Ciguatoxic fish do not carry a foul odor or taste.

I know this isn’t florida but just saying.

It’s probably a sennet rather than a barracuda. They’re fairly common inshore here.

Just wondering, not criticizing. It appears to be legal, just didn’t know why anyone would want to. If you like those stinkin’ things, have at em. OK by me:sunglasses:

I’ve gigged several cudas over the years while collecting mullet for bait to freeze. There’s a bunch in and around our shallow waters.

Watched a fishing show once of a guide in Georgia, take a guy Cuda fishing. He said that you could eat Cuda, caught in the Atlantic. He said that the ones in the Atlantic, were OK to eat because there is no toxins in them! This was because, there is no Red Coral in the Atlantic, which is where the toxins come from. The forage fish they mostly eat, also eat the Red Coral and that’s how they get it in their system! He said the Cudas in the Gulf, where they do have Red Coral can’t be eaten?

Don’t know about eating the fish that eat the fish that eat red coral
but when I was stationed in the Bahamas we snorkeled around the
boat harbor without any problems, then decided to venture up the island a few miles to try some new areas, shortly after being in
water I started to swell all over with hugh whelts, didn’t know why,
took some shots from medics to make go away. Few weeks later went back, happened again ,same thing , found out that there was red coral
near by and that it was the cause of my body reaction ;; Didn’t go back, and never swelled up again snorkeling around boat harbor at base.[:0]
