We went deep yesterday and decided to drop in about 250’ of water to see what would happen. I do not bottom fish much at all, and I was not sure what kind of fish this is that we pulled up. Any help would be appreciated.

Of course, I could be wrong, I often am!
Blue
Looks like a red porgy from what I can tell… 3 per person, 14" TL minimum size…
Yep, porgy cousins
In charter boat lingo, silver snapper. It’s a porgy. Good eating fish.

Thanks for the responses guys. Looking in the book, my best guess was a red porgy. What throws me off is that I don’t remember noticing blue spots on the side of the fish and the face had a big blue band across the eyes (think Zorro) while the book drawing depicted finite lines.
Red Porgy, aka Pinkie, silver snapper, Charleston snapper…14" total length, 3 per person, great eating, great cutbait, AWESOME for Ceviche!!!
