Can somebody tell me what kind of fish this is?

I caught two of them back to back on the Charleston Nearshore Reef yesterday. I’m not having any luck searching the internet for them.

Yep, red hake. Close relative of a cod. Decent eating, pretty rare on hook and line.

I was thinking that looked like a codfish. Never seen one of those hake before. cool

Yep that’s a hake. We were getting them on a regular basis last fall out on the snapper banks. We had to look them as well. They were not bad eating at all.
