Fish on Sailboat from CHS-Bahamas- Pics.

Sailed a 44’ boat down to the bahamas and Fished along the way with best buds Capt. Conor Smith, Capt. Mike Illig of Avid Angling, Capt. Wes Fairey of Legend Marine, kyle barnell, and local good ole boy Bo Crouch.
Didnt fish much until we got down to Florida. Caught an 8lb. cero mackerel in 30 ft. of water on a lehi blue/white plain skirt. Sailed across the gulf stream heading East. Went 1/2 on the Sailfish. The first one basically spooled us before we could get the sails down, haha. The second one we were more prepared, left the sails up and Capt. Smith sailed right after the sail, Capt. Mike did a great job angling it, I leaderd it and released it safe. Ironic to get a sail on a sailboat. Raised hell in the Bahamas with the guys, stocking up and cooking fresh caught lobsters and conch fritters, along with some hawaiian sling action ont the hogfish, grouper and mutton snappers. On the sail back, caught a blackfin tuna on a purple yozuri lure, you can see the lure in the pic. Can get those at Haddrells and are simply great all around lures.

Good luck fishing to everyone,
Capt. Gabriel Turner

That blackfin that hit the marauder must have been hungry, What kind of grouper is that?

Yep, I used to fish the SC stream in a Hunter 30 ft sailboat named the “Pauline” several years ago. My dad was a 6 pack captain. We’d leave Friday night, lines in the water at daybreak and back to the dock by midnight Sat.

I could be wrong, but looks like a black grouper.

And I am not going to point anyone out, but I see that one of them has hit the eyebrow wax a little too heavily!

That’s a big grouper for a sling.

Looks like an awesome trip and great catch. Congrats

yep yep. that was a black grouper, felt great to get our breath hold and hawaiian sling skill back a little.
