fished for stripers ..

This past Saturday I went fishing at Keowee for stripers , well i didn’t catch any . The reason …there are not any stripers in keowee…but if there was any I would have caught them .!

I really wanted to see something besides the shad post.

While talking about shad , do you really know the difference of what kind of shad you are fishing with when you catch them with the cast net. I have caught blue backs and gizzard shad at the same time while casting for them . I met a fellow fisherman while looking at a boat he had for sale ,he made the statement that series of striper tournments he fished that gizzard shad was the only thing allowed .

I can’t tell the difference in my catch ,using either one . What are your thoughts on different shad types .

Oh the spotted bass was ok on keowee …now if I can just get back there …

I wish thy’d put stripes in Keowee. Seems the waters pretty cool, and they’d thrive in there.

This time of year it wouldn’t be too bad, too many muscle boats & jet ski’s for it to be much fun in the summer though…

That would make it the same as any other body of water on the planet. Try Murray on a Sunday in June.

From what I know… A Gizzard Shad can be bigger with a “blunt” nose. A Threadfin is a much smaller shad. I am assuming you know a Blueback is a Herring?
