Fishers/Tennis Elbow

Does anyone suffer from this? If so, how was it diagnosed and what remedies did you find helpful? I am thinking about trying an elbow compression strap next time I go out to see if that helps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes i got it. There is a brace especially for tennis elbow. It has an air bubble in it that presses directly on the effeceted area. Also cortisone shots r helpful to. Eventually surgery, which is where I’m at with it now.

Had it - wore the brace (strap) when I fished or golfed for about 4 months and eventually got through it… takes a while…

I have it and the pain can be awful. The strap does help but there are stretching exercises that can get to the core of the problem. I am having a prolonged siege this time but previously the stretching cured it, and it did not recur for years. Actually I’ve ordered some putty for squeezing, as helped mine previously. It’s no fun. Good luck.

Got it now as well, left elbow, I’m right handed. Last doctor appointment he recommended the strap and two alleve twice a day to manage the pain. Next step will be the shot followed by surgery if it still persists.

I’m 33 and have had it every fall for a few years- took me 2 seasons just to admit that it was a real problem. I get it when I am oystering and sheepshead fishing a lot, putting the most strain on my right elbow (southpaw). I have a neoprene compression sleeve that works great, especially during the activity itself. tried an “adjustable” one that just got in the way, the stretchy neoprene fits and works well without snagging.

I had it for the better part of a year. Went to the Dr and was put on a steroid dose pack. It really didn’t help me I was told the next step was the shot in the elbow and that it was really unpleasant so I opted out of that and put up with the PAIN until it eventually went away.

Cortisone shot plus physical therapy is the key to curing the problem. Problem is weak and/or tight muscles in the forearm that are being overused. Braces and medicine will only fix the problem for short periods. Gotta get to the root of the problem to keep it away. Surgery works, but I’d make it a last resort.

anti-inflammatory pills, stretching, and eccentric exercise to the forearm muscles - which has been shown to help with tendinitis conditions. check out the Thera-Band flexbar on amazon. jan

After a thorough examination, my rheumatologist told me it was all in my head.

He told me to duct tape a horseshoe magnet to the back of my neck, just below the collar line, with the legs up (for good luck) to direct all of the nerve impulses straight to my brain.

I only tried it for a week and a half…

It didn’t work for me.
