Looking to put an in-dash mounted Lowrance HDS7 on boat. Can you install a “repeater” or “slave” screen elsewhere on the boat by cable? Don’t want to buy a whole second unit ideally.
The HDS 5Ms are on big discounts lately. $250ish I think. If you network it, you can pick up full functionality. I just got a 7M to network a spare/second screen on my boat. They were/are on close out along with the 5Ms and came in around 450$ vs $900 a month ago. New versions are clearing out the first generations which are plenty good. Also, used may offer options. I considered them heavily but this came along and I got lucky tracking a 7 down.

use the ethernet cable connection to link them together, and they will share all data
Like Chris says, the M version is a chart plotter only, but networked to a full unit will have everything. One on the bow for inshore or lakes is a common thing.

I was thinking of a repeater screenfo the side scan. Don’t really need chart plotting at bow.
Your structure scan should have a second ethernet out and should be as simple as running Ethernet cable to new unit in bow.
