Fishing a "Slick"

Just doing some research and came across this technique. Only thing was every article talking about it seemed to be in Louisiana. Does anyone here look for slicks to throw in while out there? Still trying to learn more ways than one to skin a cat.

Well that’s a nice report! Just Kidding, I think it’s funny when people get all bent out of shape when they think a post is in the wrong place. Anyway, what do you mean a slick? Chum Slick? Different surface texture?

Yes. A slick is sometimes formed from the oils of bait fish being eaten by gamefish below. Sometimes you can even smell it if you turn off the stereo and pay attention  Always fish a slick.

Came upon a great big slick once, way offshore. There was a big cardboard box floating in the middle of it. It was so loaded with slingers you couldn’t see the bottom of the school. If you find one, you just got lucky!

pollen slicks produce fish as well

Either current slick or bait slick. I didn’t wanna believe the bait slick thing cause I’ve read it smells like strawberries/watermelon. Sorry, may be a little naive but I’ve never smelt fruit while fishing.

Trust me if you are in a creek and smell watermelon look for a slick. The smaller the slick the closer you are to the feed. The closer you are to the water the stronger the smell.Wind covers the slick.Get lucky and have no wind you will see slicks.Sun rise on penny creek in Sept is a watermelon day a lot of times.

Never heard of the fruit thing! It did smell like fish though! That box must have attracted a bunch of bait fish and the Phins found them. First thing we noticed was this big flat spot on a choppy ocean. Wondered what it was and then saw the box. Never loaded a boat like that! Fast as you could get a lure in the water you were hooked up!
