So I now have access to a boat and have done a little bit of fishing from it. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to show me some tricks, tips, NOT SO SECRET fishing spots and how to fish them. I have fished from shore here for over 8 years, but this is my branching out into the boating world. I’d appreciate any help or advice. I am off most weekends and all thru the week in the AM until 2pm.
Boat Size is a 22’ Center Console. The Boat takes out of Charleston Harbor Resorts Marina.
I really do not know where to start. I feel like a kid in a candy store lol. I have a single trolling reel with 30lb test line, and a couple of spinning reels (12lb and 20lb). I definitely at this point want to stay inshore, and I am worried about the Jetties as I have heard they can be not very nice to inexperienced people.
As far as what I want to catch. Trout, Red’s, Flounder, nothing yet in particular, just really more wanting to learn and get into learning the proper way to do things from a boat.
hire a guide. good ones on this site. it’ll shorten your learning curve - alot. dont’ ask for spots. ask em to teach you what to look for. do you have a trolling motor on your boat? ask the guide to come on your boat. you’ll learn stuff.
if you don’t wanna do that, go to haddrells mt p, buy a top spot map, and stand there and look dumb. they will help you.
never ever believe anything that 23sailfish says about fishin, women, hunting or college football - that’ll keep you out of alot of bs. 2nd thought, use the ignore feature for him.
