Fishing after storms

I’ve always heard it both ways. After big storms, like this hurricane coming through right now, is the fishing better, worse, or about the same after the storm passes through?

Worse after. Usually better just before.

Hope not. Planning to go Thursday although it is hard for me to believe that 14ft seas are going to calm to 2ft so quickly but that is the forecast last time I checked.

haha yeah that’s why i was asking, i was looking at the forecast and they were saying 2ft for friday and saturday

I could only imagine they will be very turbulent. I’d like to hear more experienced thoughts on this.

Doesn’t take all that long for seas to subside if the winds die.

Fronts
Storms and changing weather patterns affect fishing success since fish are keenly attuned to changes in barometric conditions. With many fish, feeding increases during the hours immediately before a cold front, but slows during and after a storm or front hits. Fishing after a cold front is poor and continues to be poor for a day or two.

We had one day last summer where we waited out a T-storm before rolling out right behind it to bottom fish. grouper bite was on FIRE that day, I really think the storm got em stirred up
