Fishing and catching

I have to say Ive been lucky to have been able to fish so much lately…and have great weather to do it in. Usually days off it has blown a storm…or rained buckets…but lately Ive been Blessed with good weather…or at least somewhere to fish to make it work…

In the last three weeks have fished MCClellanville, rockville, folly, harbor and wando, and stono to edisto way…so have been on a "water tour "of sorts:sunglasses:…and had a blast. Seems like it is easy to get stuck in fishing “comfort zones”…and hard to explore with the possibility of not catching. The last three weeks have reminded me to step away and start over sometimes…as well as use different techniques. Have done a lot of bottom versus cork fishing as well as using grubs and topwater, and it paid off well.
Found a few new spots that produced great fish for us…and a couple of them we caught at least 20 trout apiece…with the smallest being 12 inchs. What a awesome time we had! Trout were all caught on line with a couple split shot tossed away and then allowed to sink to the bottom…lift…drop back…reel a little …drop back…bammmm! was so cool . Even caught some nice whiting and a flounder this way. Heres some pics …as well as some of other things we saw…

was leaving the ramp Sunday morning and passed two men in a boat…they slowed down and one yells…“hey…its that famous dog ROO”…even in disguise she gets recognized…laugh…but the hats keep her big ears warm[:I]

so i take my jacket off to cast for bait and MR. “I dont need a jacket” steals it! Next time Im going to take a hot pink one:smiley:

Hey there. Glad you caught some trout. I should have broken away from my usual spots over the weekend as we spoke about, but didn’t want to break away from shrimp. I should at least thrown the split shot rig when they weren’t responding to the cork.It did cross my mind. Great picture of the deer. I might have to steal that first one. I’m going to try that creek down at Cherry Point on Friday. I’ll report…
Good luck!

thank you for the nice pix & post

Awesome pics Penny! The turtles intrigue me. I had never seen turtles like that until this past Summer down in Edisto. I have seen sea turtles but this look like regular turtles. Did not know such turtles existed.

Also, is it just me or does that second to the last pic of a fish look a little like a bone fish?

Good looking trout and a great tour, thanks for sharing. Also, finally some shrimp with a little bit of size to them!

Penny, we were fishing the same area of the Stono on Sunday as you! Even past that same sail boat on the way back in. But you seemed to have had better luck than us! Surprised we didn’t see you out there!

Looks like good times had by all. Great Pics. Thanks for sharing as always

Great post as always!

Great report as always thanks Penny!!!

Great post and pics as usual, Penny. Did you use any other live bait besides shrimp on your bottom rigs?

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

shrimp, haden and mullet…they liked the shrimp and haden…but never seemed to even touch the mullet…did catch a stingray or two on them though

those haden were perfect size …just hard to keep them alive sometimes so i usually just keep a few…the 2nd day i wish i had kept more. Still seem to be shrimp in almost every drain and flat…pcked some larger ones out for dinner. one thing with the stono…and most who fish it know…those old roots and stumps will eat your net up if you dont know where they are.

miss’n fish’n

Hey DF. Those turtles are Diamondback Terrapins. Inshore saltwater turtles.

Nice pics Pen, looks like you had a good time

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
