Fishing around docks

Except for genuine old Kings Grant land, the land owner can own down to the MLLW line. However, even though they may own it, the land owner does not control the area between MLLW and MHHW. You can walk a flat all the way up to the MHHW line. Go above that and you are tresspassing. So, when fishing from a boat that is not tied to or touching the dock, you are completely within your rights.

Kinda’ sad…
I’d hate to live life worrying about such trivialities…

He is referring to mean high water line and mean low water line for anyone that is interested. Reasoning behind this is for navigable waters, the public has the right to use because they have for years and years and years…

a few years back when lake murray was down.we would look for arrowheads in certain spots.the land owners would threaten you, call cops, dnr or who ever they could.the lake was down8ft or better.they got told the same thing.as long as they don’t touch your dock or cross the high water mark there was nothing that they could do.some of the owners would sit there and watch just waiting on you to do something.we did find some nice arrow heads though

Same rules for Lake Murray because is is navigable. If it is not navigable, a land owner owns to middle of pond.

Why dont people think before they type?!! NO TIED OFF- is what the man said and Jolly if you were fishing respectfully you were well within your rights to stay there-in fact I would make it a mandatory stop every time I went out if I were you!

If it’s good fishing, I say we start posting the coordinates. I think it’s worth it! These people need to get a life.
