Fishing around HHI report 10/18-10/22

Well my vacation is over. Hilton Head is beautiful and the marsh is as well. It took a lot of exhausting paddles against wind and tide current and a couple times getting skunked but I finally figured out a pattern on the last day and made it count. I started the week off with my personal best redfish, almost 30 inches. It took my kayak for quite a ride around that flat and was quite a rush!

I caught a small rat red, and also hooked a really good one that came loose after pulling about 30 feet of line out. I didn’t let this nice slot sized red get away though. I got it on a SUMKINA Bubble Belly and it was one of the best seafood dinners I’ve ever had.

I also caught 20-30 sea trout, all short except one 16 incher that we also ate.

straight braid on those?

30# braid with 15# flourocarbon leader. The leaders had to get changed often from being rubbed on oysters, check them often!

Glad you did well :sunglasses:

MidTenn: You did well considering the blustery wind. BTW, where did you nail that big red?
