Fished by a rock wall this morning on Seabrook. Not long after I got there, a boat came up the creek. I could tell it was a charter and the captain and clients were very friendly. The captain asked if I minded if he anchored up a little way from where I was fishing and I told him that it was fine. I really appreciated his politeness and courtesy in asking.
I had a great morning that started out with a nice 28" red, followed by a 16" tagged red and a nice 19" black drum. Also had about 15 croakers and a small stingray in the mix. Not bad for a few hours dodging raindrops.
While I was fishing, it was great to hear the captain working with his clients. I don’t know who he was, but he was really doing a great job with them not only getting them rigged up and catching fish, but also explaining interesting facts about each species. The clients had a young boy and it seemed like this was his first fishing trip. Hearing his excitement as he pulled in some croakers and then some bigger reds was just great. That kid is lucky to have parents that took him out on a dreary morning, and captain, if you happen to be reading this, thank you for what you do. All of you captains help to get people excited about fishing and that is a wonderful thing. That little boy will remember this day for the rest of his life.
