fishing..but who's counting??

Plan was to take the big boat out today…didnt get it pulled out and loaded last night so …old reliable…the little boat… and change of plans. Donnie swore he would be ready to get out of here by 530-6…yeah right…heard that before:wink:…5 a.m. boat was loaded hooked up, coffee brewed and lunch made…and donnie and Roo were still snoring:smiley:…few bright lights and idle threats and they were ready to go. decided to run up past metal trades and do some more shrimp and fish scouting . Wind wasnt 5-10 as weather channel had promised…so took a little beating in the sound. found a lot of little shrimp then finally some larger ones…mixed…but at least not salad shrimp. had a blast throwing the net today with a few good…and not so good suprises. one throw yielded 32 finger mullet…one yielded 2 big angry stingrays and a crab in the same pull:frowning_face: by then i was covered with mudd and soaking wet…and smelling a little like the stuff I was pulling in the boat. Now anyone who has ever fished the stono area knows those underwater decaying stumps like to reach out and grab you…today was a reminder for me… should have known when I pulled up a piece about a foot and a half…but the shrimp were there…tossed…pulled back…felt the sickening feel of dead weight and popping strings. Finally got the net back with a good three foot plus rip along the “hem” (weight line)…and a hole dead center one place. didnt bring a back up net as I usually do…so had to mcgyver it…duct tape the hole shut(keep a roll of it in my tackle)…few long tight whip stitchs with some flouro to the hemline… 15 minutes later net looked like heck but worked…donnie sat there laughing At my effort:smiley: will try to salvage it tommorow. Broke a eye on my rod and the reel on the other one has given its last turn I think. but the good news is that we had a awesome day of fishing…and caught a few shrimp too. I can honestly say I was “whipped” by the time I called it quits.…heres a few pics
