Fishing Folly and other places

Got a little later start than I had hoped yesterday…but made it out …tide was already flooding in full force and was almost half tide. The places I usually load up with bait on low tide were deep in water, and after a few casts I realized this was getting me no where and I needed to switch gears. Asked donnie to take me up in some creeks(drains to him…but after crabbing with daddy for so many years anything wider than 5-6 foot across is a “creek”…and accessible if you are going fast enough…lol anyhow…we nose up into a few…which donnie isnt too happy about…“what if there are oysters he says? How will we know”"…:flushed:…“We’ll hear them I say”:imp:…ahmmm…wrong choice…you dont tell a man youre about to use his boat as a boat and possibly mess it up…:face_with_head_bandage:…guess I been around daddy to long…
so I finally get some shrimp…but they were really tiny…and caught a dozen or so finger mullet…got a mess of some that were big enough to eat…Roo had a time chasing them before I tossed them back over…and a nice cast of big glass minnows and tiny haddens…so I kept some of them too, and fished them under cork and on the bottom.
First few places had boats in them…early bird gets the fish…so we moseyed on. Fished a few banks…caught a few rat reds and toad fish…mostly on the bottom…then decided to explore some creeks…and did a little trolling and caught a few little trout which was a lot of fun, will definatly do this more. The trout and reds seemed to love the glass minnows. I rigged two to a hook and they were eating them like candy…had never really used them for bait before…but will now. Had two “peelers”…as daddy says…no…not crabs…but fish that “peel” your line off…brought one to the boat, it was a nice red…never turned the other and think it was a shark. Saw a few folks we knew…and had a group of kayakers cruise up and talk to us…the young man leading it says he recognized Roo and us from on here…lol. BTW…they will have some of their kayaks for s

thanks for sharing, we all look forward to your next adventure!

Good stuff as usual, Penny. That couple’s boat could use a paint job. Or at least some new decals…

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Great report as always, truly the Mark (Mary) Twain of CF.com, with some Robert Frost thrown in!

We are TRULY BLESSED to live in our Lowcountry paradise.

See ya on the water!

Thanks!

It’s actually a NOAA contact when were you out on the water ??

Thats a large net of glass minnows, usually only pull a few up when they are in the cast net

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I think it’s your duty as a officer to go and remove the dead thing…yep you…lol

That was just a few of the minnows…had already tossed most back over…I too usually caught one or two…that must have been a glass convention

With my kayak and everything in the bed of my truck not sure if I have a room for a dead manatee

thanks for the pix! i will meet you one day miss penny… especially if y’all keep hanging out on the little island at the entrance to cole creek- good place for the dogs to run when the tide is in!

what’s the floater BW?

if the head is on the left in the last two pictures, and the dorsal is underwater, my money’s on dolphin.

it does look like a snout on the other end, though… bloated dolphi-tee?

thanks, i thought i saw a snout too.
