I usually kayak fish but I’ve got an old fishing buddy coming down for a visit in the next couple of days. He mentioned fishing and I mentioned kayaks and he sounded pretty uncertain. I haven’t seen this guy in 25+ yrs and I don’t know if he’s in any shape to kayak so I’m wanting to line up an idea or two for shore fishing. Sheeps, Reds, Trout… any half decent places for this time of year?
Thanks,
John
Still hearing of some decent sheepshead coming from the MtP fishing pier, as well as the rock groin in front of ft moultrie. Had a guy in just a few days ago that picked up a few decent flounder off of the high battery downtown near the pilot boat dock. Just a few of the on shore reports from this week I have heard of in here…

Thanks Scott. I didn’t know there were flounder to be had at this time of year.
I’ve never fished either the MTP dock or Moultrie groin. Google shows me what looks like a parking lot at the Moultrie groin… public parking? Any restrictions on fishing there?
Same as most beaches, tires off the road, park anywhere unless marked, park with the flow of traffic, I have caught sheeps at Moultrie, a lot easier when the water is a little warmer, that away you don’t freeze if a nice breaker hits the rocks
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Yea I was pretty surprised at the flounder as well, all I can say is I chalk that up to a very mild winter thus far…There has actually been quite a few flounder being reported the last 2 weeks, most of which were caught by “accident” while targeting trout. Feel free to call,PM, or email me anytime…always glad to share what I know and help out when possible

Thanks for all the tips here. My buddy has come and gone on what turned out to be a pretty busy weekend for me and he’d pulled a back muscle and wasn’t into fishing. So we never got to try out any of the suggestions offered. I won’t forget them for next time though…
