I’ve been trying the white perch this week with mixed results. Thursday was the best day for me. They bit well between 19’ and 27’ deep. Most productive depth was 23’ to 25’. I had to move around a lot with the trolling motor as they were moving with the baitfish. Kept 21 perch and 1 striper that swallowed the spoon. I could probably have done better if I’d used live bait, but I like fishing the spoons. I caught them on my favorite 1/2 ounce Berry spoon and one I’m trying from Cabela’s. They seemed to bite best from daylight until around 9:30. After that things got real slow.

I’ve been catching a lot of perch in bear creek on points, coves and humps 18-25 ft with red worms off the bottom

TEAM LAID BACK

Used to catch a bunch in Bear, between the old mountain and Epting’s, years ago. Fished a double rig with either worms or small pieces of cutbait. I learned the hard way that you had to have the sinker on the bottom to keep the rascals from getting both hooks in them. Caught bunches of doubles after moving the sinker to the bottom. That’s a great area for perch. Back when the limit was 30 you couldn’t fish long in that area.
