fishing in or near summerville

Looking for good on bank, dock or pier fishing in summerville. Preferably free but if not still post any good spots. New to SC…here from NY I want to go fishing this Saturday morning for my birthday.

smoovedude, I’m not sure of any piers that are in the Summerville area ,but there might be some, I used to fish off a dock that is at the end of Ladson road. Follow Ladson down to where Ladson and Dorchester meet, go straight through the light and you’ll pass some apartments on your left, just keep going straight and it will dead end into a parking lot with a nice little walk around dock. I know you mentioned Summerville but there are some fun little ponds in Wescott Plantation area off Dorchester. Hope that helps.

I don’t mind going to work but this sitting here for 8 hours waiting to go fish is bull.

Jerladd…thanks for the reply. I know of that spot. Just was checking to see if there were anymore. I have 3 small kids that will be accompanying me and I didn’t want to take a chance on the little dock back there.

I live in Summerville as well, nice place to live, but I haven’t found a lot of public fishing at all here other than the ramp y’all already mentioned… and even that’s a long shot.

Your best bet, to be honest, is to head for the coast. Goose Creek Reservoir is back behind Trident Tech, and you can do some pretty decent bluegill and perhaps catfish from the bank there at times. Bushy Park can also be OK, but really around here you just need to spend the cash on a canoe or a kayak if you really want a shot at putting something on the end of your line.

You can poke around Lake Marion and Moultrie for some decent night fishing spots, but it can be a bit freaky at times, depending on the sort of folks that you meet up with.
