We planned a trip for this weekend a while back and now it looks like the weather will not cooperate. Since we’re locked into the place to stay we’re going for it. It’s all inshore for trout, redfish, flounder etc.
Any advice on fishing during this kind of weather? Anything different from fishing in better conditions?
Any advice on getting bait (shrimp etc.) where they’re located right now.
I prefer overcast, rainy weather myself (as long as there are no sparks)
This time of year the hot bite inshore is predawn till just after runrise and/or same at sunset.
If its a bright, clear day the fish will go deep and not feed as well.
So, stay away from the sparks, and catch more fish
I would recommend having a top on your boat incase the rain gets heavy. Stop by the bait store and get some bait just incase you can’t find any. It would really suck to be wet and have no bait. And then there is plan B. B for Beer incase you get skunked.
We’re going to give it a try. We have a place rented w/ a dock so can duck the weather if we’re close enough. The forecast doesn’t look quite as bad today as earlier.
I appreciate the help.
Dave,
I enjoyed your podcast on Salt Strong. I will release any trout over 20 inches. Shouldn’t be much of a problem since I release most all the fish I catch. Friday before last, I let a slot redfish and 3 legal trout go.
Thank you, that podcast sure has a lot of followers. Just had Redfin Charters join up as a supporter of Release Over 20" and 9 other guides from TX to NC.
