Fishing in the rain?

I read an article today about fishing in the rain. From what I read it seems there seems to be good fishing when its raining lightly. Some thing about O2 levels being slightly higher and the fish not being as scared.

Any of you guys fish the rain? How has it been? Do any thing different?

I feel as though the idea that “fish bite better in the rain” is just some BS that fisherman tell themselves so they feel better about sitting in the rain trying to catch a fish. That being said, I’ve done my fair share of sitting int he rain trying to catch a fish and I can’t tell you for sure if it’s ever paid off for me but I’m going to say probably not.

The only reason I’d be outside in the rain is for fishing or hunting.

I’m so salt life I get land sick.

Big rains are the ticket in clear fresh water to turn the bite on, but I was wondering how do these heavy rains effect the shallow inshore bite? Do they push the fish out into deeper water or do they move up in the grass?

I’ve had some of my best days in the rain. Whether trout fishing in the river, tailing reds, stripers, tarpon, whatever. Not a torrential downpour that turns the water to mud, just rain. The fact that it cools the water in the summer is a big reason I think. Also low light and natural noise make it more ambush friendly for the fishes.

I’ve had some good days in the rain but, only because I got caught out there in it.

That’s funny!

I remember as a kid when it was raining my dad would tell me the fishing was at it’s best, I latter learned that was his way of getting me out the house so he could have mom to himself. Go Dad!

Man, your Dad was smooooth. Mine just yelled at us and told us to go outside.

I remember once when I was 13 fishing behind lake murray dam with my dad, it started raining and man did the stripers start biting. I have had other experiences like that when raining, I have had none that good when not raining. I say it sometimes matters, not always. i have gotten soaked and not caught a thing.

dont know if its just coincidence but I have had some killer days in both salt and fresh with light rain and breeze. As a matter of fact, best day I ever had was in light rain. We threw everything in our boxes and they ate it all.
