Boy has life changed a lot in the last few months for me. I sold a business that I started 10 years ago. Bought(partnered) another one, a tackle shop, in the last few weeks. Bringing in new products, for us and getting focused on the new business. Stress has been at a premium and fun at a minimum. Don’t feel bad for me, I’m a bit of a masechist.
We got our first 30 rod shipment of Black Hole rods and couldn’t wait to test them. Fortunately, there was a small weather window and we took it. One of my tacle rep’s, Brad, a local inshore captain, Drew and my partner Josh and I headed off for some fun. Not worried about limits, reports, cool points…just back to basic stuff, the stuff that fishing is meant to be, the reason we all got into it, FUN!!!
We used way to light of tackle, fished worn out spots and caught trash fish after trash fish. Brad and Drew were fairly new to the jig scene and pounded away like old pro’s. We caught big redfish, small AJ’s and some other trash. Josh worked hard and eventually got a small jack on the fly. We saw a few cobia and heard of a massive weedline out in 200’ that we did not have time to investigate. Rode home in a beautiful sea and hooked a few new guys for life. That is what it’s all meant to be.
Glad you had a relaxing and fund day, too. I know some people don’t care to catch them, but I love, LOVE catching AJs. Whether on topwater, plugs, or jigging, those things are beasts!
“The problem that infuriates you the most is the one you are meant to solve.”
Can’t beat it man. Congrats on a fun day on the ocean. Back in October we rounded out a few trips by jigging for big AJs in 300-400ft of water. Everytime I’d hook up I would start cracking up with a combination of enjoyment and “why in the hell am I doing this to myself?”. We’ve got an awesome playround out there…
Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

Dude, I tried so hard to do it right. I hate posts that are all spread out. After 6 tries I said F it. Photobucket changed the IMG format, that is the story I’m sticking to.
courtland - i had the same problem with photobucket earlier… you gotta erase everything except [img] nlfjknalkfsdadsklsdan randomness until you get to the next {img} and i should work right. it was def irritating me earlier… figured it out though
