Fishing Line Care: When to Change

I was reading an article in the Coastal Angler and the author says if you are “seasonal” and only fish in deep water to change your line every month or two, not less than that though. Goes on to say “if you or your kid wants to catch a new personal best I recommend changing that monofilament line weekly. If you or your kid is ready to break the eight-pound level trophy fishing it might be time to get serious and change that line every trip”.

I fish with mono and change a couple times a year when I’m really getting on the fish. Sometimes I will trim the last 7-8 feet of line if it feels rough from oysters. It is rare that I use anything over 12 lb test inshore. Is it just me or does the authors suggestion seem a little excessive?

It sounds to me like he sells fishing line [:0]
