Fishing Miami

So, I live in Charleston and travel to Miami every other week for work - or at least I’ve been making the trip all but 5 weeks this year and don’t see it changing anytime soon. I can say that I’ve missed quite a few very good fishing days up here and have only fished one time while down there.

The current option I have to fish is with one of our sales people up in Ft. Lauderdale. Fishing up there is always fun and lines are in 250’ of blue water within a couple of miles from shore - yes it spoils you;)

However, the drive is ridiculous and makes you miss the Charleston traffic while down there. Went out two weeks ago and took nearly 2.5 hours to make the 40+- mile ride from Lauderdale back to Miami. Really was terrible!

I was hoping that someone could give some suggestions as to a guide or buddy that fishes in/nearshore in Miami. My days are flexible but afternoons are always open. Would love to take the extra time I have down there to wet some lines and put some fish in the apartments freezer and a lot closer to home would be great.

Sitting in CHS Airport as I type this waiting on my flight to Miami and thinking of fishing instead of work…

One of the best offshore guides in Miami is Bouncer Smith. He is located in Miami Beach…near govt. cut.

I thought Bouncer would be retired by now. He is/was definitely one of the very best. I ran a charter boat out of Ft. Lauderdale for a year, about 35 years ago, and he was the best then.

He is still doing it!!! Bouncer was inducted into the IGFA Hall of Fame a few years ago.

Forget about offshore fishing in Miami unless it’s sailfishing in the winter… This time of the year, you should be chasing peacocks with a fly rod!!!

Absoltely looking for inshore/nearshore. I’ll look up Bouncer and see if I can get out.

Thanks everyone!
