So I am sure you get this alot and if there is another thread already started like this please link it to me.
I just stared fishing around the Charleston Harbour and Wando river area. I have yet to find luck out there. Usually go under 526 Bridge and then make a right at the second inlet and go back there and fish for Reds, no luck. Have tried at the first inlet past the bridge as well.
Also, tried to the shipwreck in the inlet across.
Use live shrimp and minnows.
If possible could some of you give me some pointers? Anything at all, tired of going out there and striking out every time. I went out today right after low tide around 12 and just nothing. It was real choppy and windy though.
Anything will help, and even maybe looking for a guide for a few hours one day to help teach me a few spots and how to fish them.
Thanks
With the cold fron moving in the barometric pressure may have had some effect on your fishing. I almost never have any success when a front is blowing in. You might try a little farther up the river. I have had some success on structure close to feeder creeks. Try about 2-3 hours before and after low when the water is moving. That wreck gets a lot of pressure and I have had limited success there. Also, I would highly recomment attending one of the Inshore 101 Seminars put on by local tackle shops. These are sponsored by the shops and they bring in one of our excellent local guides to give you the low-down skinny. Also, hire a local guide and they will take years off the learning curve for you. A small price to pay to get a head start on fishing success.

got any advice on who to hire and what the cost would be? I am total open for that.

Local Boy, Just having fun.
Give Capt Greg a call 843-224-0099. He fishes the Cooper and Wando and does very well at finding the fish as well as giving you advice on what to look for, when to fish what on which tides etc.
Just a general rule of thumb that I’ve found. Look for big bends in creeks and fish them 1-2 hours before and after low tide. There’s usually a big drop off to deep water when you see a big bend in a creek. Look at google earth and zoom in to look for potential fishing spots. Stop by one of the local shops for the free seminars they do after work. While you’re at the shop, pick up a copy of the tide log book and a map which shows where all the boat ramps are. There’s more than you think.
